“C” is for Cookie and “F” is for Fair!

08.26.09

If you are near the Puyallup Fair this year (Sept. 11-27), please head on over to the Hobby Hall and see the collection exhibits.

If you do this you will notice one case full of
bright blue cheery Cookie Monsters!

This collection belongs to me and I am proud to show it at the fair.

I have been collecting Cookie Monsters and Cookie Monster things since I was little.  I started with one stuffed one that was taller than I was at the time and it grew from there into a collection of over 350 pieces!  I have ones that walk, talk, sing, dance, and much more!

Stop by and see it if you are there… and enjoy a fair scone as well!

KIWANIS Bingo Great Success

08.24.09

One of the great fund raisers is the Bingo game the Kiwanis puts on each week.  AND they also run Bingo at the NW WA FAIR in Lynden each Summer.  This year the Fair Bingo Game averaged $2000.00 a day.  And the weekly Bingo game every Tuesday night at the Elks club 710 Samish Way nets another 200.00 a week on average.  Since Kiwanis supports kids “one child and one community at at time” and since all funds raised go directly to projects that support children and none goes to administration we see this as a HUGE success for the kids of Whatcom County.   So play some bingo this week and have some fun while benefiting the children.  www.bellinghamkiwanis.com

Jim Wins at CHAMBER Breakfast!

08.14.09

We love the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce!  At their monthly breakfast held the 2nd Friday of each month Gateway Centre’s Manager Jim Carney won the opportunity to speak in front of the 125 attendees about Gateway Centre and about the Bellingham Kiwanis.  AND then he also won one of the door prizes… a $25.00 gift Certificate to Osaka Restaurant.  Congrats to our very own chamber ambassador and Gateway’s lucky business manager.

Is it Labor Day yet?

08.13.09

Labor day has evolved from a holiday in recognition of hard working Americans to a celebration of the final days of summer.

What are your plans for this upcoming holiday?
